Russ Wood – From Radio to Screen

SONY DSC

This actors name is Russ Wood, and he was a pure joy to work with.   This Scotsman is the real thing, and he can portray any type of character you can ask him to be and nail it.   Our Studio Session lasted only an hour, but I wanted to work with him more.   He will be back in my studio in the future.   He had served as the host of the Morning Show on Star 105 FM and the Afternoon Drive Shows in the Orangeburg area, and in the Sumter/Florence areas.     After over twenty years on the air and deciding his life was ready for a major change, he retired from being just a voice over the airways, now being the face with the voice on the screen.   He has a number of stage productions under his belt and is in line for some dramatic parts on a few Independent Films in the near future.

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a beautiful young lady who is looking to take a crack at the acting world.   She has a charisma that shines once you get her in front of the camera.   She was a joy to work with and I wish her well.   And as we finished with her session, I passed on some words of wisdom to Marqueta, from my friend and fellow photographer Matthew Jordan Smith “Always Dream Big”

Nice Pocket Watches.

pwatch1web

Just finishing some catalog work for a client, these watches are just charming.   I am a manual self winding wrist watch man my self, but if I was more sophisticated, I would have one of these in my collection.    The specs in the face of the three dial pocket watch are diamond specs that was added by the watch maker.   They glitter when the light hits them at the correct angle.

I am hoping to shoot some more fine jewelry in the future.

Major Price reduction for High School Senior Portraits.

Okay, I have to admit it, I was not using my noodle when I came up with the original pricing for our local High School Seniors.

srpase1

And more important are the deer in the head light looks that I had gotten from my Senior Moms when they had seen our old prices.    Well after a few comments from potential customers, we pulled the plug on the old prices and came out with these new set of prices.

srpase2

And no, I was not drinking, or on some sort of drug, I just never used my brain until now.

So call and book us for your Seniors Portrait Session, we do require a $250 retainer, but that money becomes a credit for your High School Seniors Portrait Purchase.

And no, this is not an offer that will expire anytime soon.

Our New Senior Site is Up

ls_seniors15

After almost a two year Hiatus, Lambert Style and Photography by Lambert has re-launched our Senior Portrait Site.  Today our site is much more Phone and Tablet friendly and will provide our parents with the information that is needed to make an informed investment in their son or daughter portraits.

We are not officially associated with any high school for producing year book photos, but we are an alternative to the limited offerings from the year book photographers.    As we have stated in the past, your students photos for the year book are taken by a contract photographer, and those are the photos that will be used in their year book.   But you are not obligated to purchase any of those photos even though the contract photographer might try to per-sway you to purchase some of those photos.   As a parent or even a student looking for Senior Portraits, you will want your Senior Portraits to be Unique to you but with a quality above the rest, Lambert Style should be your first choice.

Okay Men, Time to Man Up

SONY DSC

Valentines day is coming up fast and you will be spending your hard earned money on Flowers, Dinner and sometimes (Not really a good Idea) candy.    After some careful prodding of my Fiance, I found out what your special woman would love to have.

A real portrait of your self.

Not a Self y that makes its way around Facebook of Twitter, of a Snapshot with you in your favorite tea shirt.

From Pinterest

From Pinterest

From the GMan Web Site.

From the GMan Web Site.

We are talking GQ quality Images here guys. A portrait worthy of placing in the pages of Esquire Magazine of GQ. A properly framed portrait that she can have on her night stand and wake up too every morning.

Now I know from personal experience that spending a lot of money except on cars, video games consoles or Big Screen TV’s is not high on your priority, but if your really serious about this young lady in your life, a few extra bucs on a quality studio portrait will go along way. And we will try to help with your costs.

Book our Colour Study session with us for only $50.00 That’s Fifty Dollars, and save $200..   What are you saying, I am saying book our Colour Study session that normally starts at $250.00 for only $50.00.      So what is the hitch, well simple, you have to get properly dressed in a good button down shirt, get your self groomed and come to your appointment somewhat on time for a fifteen to twenty minute portrait session in a real portrait studio. And before you leave we will review your images with you and you pick the one you want.

framed_port

Next you would purchase at discount a framed portrait for your special person in your life and we do the rest. So that you know up front, expect to spend at least an extra $100.00 for the portrait print frame and a thumb drive with those same images that you can use on face book or she can use to brag about you.    A minimum $150 investment that will last longer that those $300 roses.

Call us to book your appointment at 301-898-2192.

Or go online to lambertstyle.com and select the contact page and just fill out our inquiry form and we will get back to you.

Help us Fill Our Galleries.

Our Web Gallery is Empty, but not because we don’t have Art to display.   Because we have changed our style of portraiture and photography, we need your help to add new and fresh artwork to our galleries.

We at Lambert Style have developed three New Artistic Styles of Portraiture that are so fresh, that we lack any quality artwork to display.   We have just started to create three new style of portraits but only had a session with two subjects, so our collection is only at the building stage.   We need your help in filling these galleries and here is where you can benefit.

In the next few weeks, we will be introducing our three new Artistic Portrait Styles to give a better feel and choice to what portrait style would be most appropriate for you.

The next few months, we are going to wave our session fees and offer you an opportunity for an exquisite family portrait session without any obligation to you.   Plus we will also give you a free 10X10 gift print and an additional 20% off your Portrait Purchase.    In return, we will ask you to give us permission to use your portrait on our online gallery and as a Framed Display Print in our Studio.

All portraits will be taken in our new studio and a few select portraits will be taken at a few select locations.

We are limiting this offer to the first 25 couples, families or individuals.   We hope to be able to create a stunning Gallery with your help.

If you are truly interested in helping us, please contact us at 301- 898-2192  and say that your interested in our free Portrait Session offer.

A touching Maternity

MarjorieToohey

Molly and I had a wonderful Maternity session with Marjorie Toohey and her son Greyson.   The session was kept short as always with all beautiful women who are in their final trimester of their pregnancy.

Quite a few of the images from the session are stunning and two have brought tears of joy to my eyes when I started to view the results of our session.

I just wanted to share with all of you one of many images from Marjorie’s session.

I hope you enjoy this beautiful portrait as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Pastel Dreams is online

dreams_blog

First and most important, I am not going to shoot Boudoir portraits as most other photographers around the country are shooting. Almost every day, more and more photographers are pickup up Boudoir Portraits but only to copy the next photographer. They follow the same approach that is use for lingerie advertisement or use the same concept used in many gentlemen magazines as a template for these portraits. Many of the portraits are neither flattering and in many cases come short of becoming pornographic.

What I am perusing is a style that was popular in the 19 century and is and is once again greatly in demand in Europe. These Portraits are called Victorian or Romance Portraits, other artist call it Bohemian Portraits. Last March, I had the opportunity to meet a very fine British Portrait Painter who has adapted this old style of portraiture in his painting and I simply fell in love with his work and his ideas of what real women truly want in this romantic style of art.

You will not find Vitoria Secret panties being stretch by a stiletto heal or a totally nude house wife only covered by a Chiffon scarf. We will shoot portraits that are romantic and tasteful but beautiful enough to hang on the wall of your home.

We call these portraits Pastel Dreams, and we offer three levels of portraits.

Three Years ago On this Date

Three Years ago Today

A Wonderful Couple by the Name of

Richard and Brianna Got Married

And today is their Third Wedding Anniversary.

I wanted to give a shout out to the Korb’s and wish them both a Happy Anniversary and may they have many more Anniversaries to come.

Some of my Best Portraits I Can’t Show, but that will change.

My Studio waiting to be used for my next session.

Sounds weird but it’s true.   Lately, a majority of my clientele have requested, no demanded that I do not used or publish or put on display any of the portraits that I have taken of them and or their family.   My Self and my Staff are even bound to a Do Not Disclose Contract.  So don’t even ask, you will be wasting your time.

But what I can say is that a lot of the images that I have produced is among the finest that I have produced.   You just have to take my word on that.

Lately, many of my clients have asked that I not use any of the images from their session and in turn, they have sent me new customers.    So when I was asked about whether I could survive without shooting weddings, my answer was I already have.

But this does bring me to an interesting dilemma.  I am planning on competing this year in several print competitions in the portrait category, but I have this agreement with most of my current clients that will forbid me from using their images in any way including in a competition.

I do have an answer and will require some help from the outside.

So here is what I have in mind, a Portrait Model Search.   This is a chance during July and August to have a in studio and possibly an on location portrait session (Depending on the weather) with me as your photographer, and help me with the creation of a future award winning competition portrait.

So what is the catch?  Well, your session fee is free and that is a $125 value alone, plus I will be giving you one fully finished 8X10 print worth $25.00, plus 5 web ready images to use on your Facebook page, so, no Catch except I will be allowed to use your portrait in both my studio, blog and best of all the Print Competition.

I am looking to compete in several portrait print competitions and that will be costly enough, two years ago I spent over $5k to compete but did earn three Gold Metals and other top honors.

The process is simple, if you would like to be considered, please send me an email with your name, age, contact info and what you would like to do for your portrait.   Also, you must understand that when I shoot your portrait, I will be putting it on display on my blog and if your portrait is selected for competition, it could be seen worldwide an in a few magazines as well.   I will not promise that will happen, the competition is tough out there and that is the way I like it, and that in turn will make me work that much harder to produce the best portrait for both of us.    Sounds like a Win Win for both.

If you are interested, please send me an Email to portrait@photographybylambert.com

You must be over the age of 18 and must be able to prove it.   Also you will be required to sign a model release for the session.    Everyone who is booked will be required to attend a pre portrait consultation meeting to help plan the portrait session.    Women are encouraged to bring and friend or chaperone to the session.    Most sessions will average about 2 to 3 hours in length and will include several clothing changes.

Congratulations to Three Special Young Adults

There comes a moment in time of a persons life that we would call a Life Changing Event. These Life Changing Events do not come often, but when they do, they alter the direction of that persons life.

The Direction of the person who experience this life changing event, is always dictated by the decisions that this person had made.

In the case of a young person, their decisions and hard work often pays off with a life changing event that has a positive impact in their life and will set a direction for their future.

I am proud to have photographed three exquisite young people this past year who have worked hard and set a positive path towards their own future.

I Want to personally Congratulate them in their Own Life Changing Event.

Earning their High Diplomas and moving on to Collage.

So here is my shout out to:

Abbey

Kelsey

And Xavier

May your future bring goodwill and a positive influence to others.

Mark and Mary Tie the Knot.

This past April, I had been given the wonderful opportunity of photographing the union of Mark and Mary.   They did not meet through a dating service or by means of online dating, but at an event associated with their professions.  As Mark put it, their meeting was truly meant to happen.

The day of their wedding, the weather showed no sign of any Sun Shine and in fact it rained all day and into the night.    But the weather did not dampen either their spirits or the day.  The couple took their vowels in the same church that Mary’s parents had gotten married some fifty plus years before.   Having Mary and Mark say their vows in the same Church that Mary’s Parents were married in was very meaningful too her parents.   Before the start of Wedding ceremony, wedding guests with serenaded by the music of a String Trio provided by famed Oboe Player,  Fatma Daglar.  The Church pews and alter area adorned with floral arraignments by Tracy Ballenger from Shearer’s Florist.

The reception was held at the Strong Mansion at Sugar Loaf Mountain with the catering and deserts provided by Canapes, Inc of Frederick MD.   And despite the rain happening outside the tent that was provided by the people at Strong Mansion provided the perfect shelter for Mark, Mary and their invited guests truly enjoyed the night’s festivities.   The evening was filled with fine wine, food and festive atmosphere had the weddings guests dancing throughout the evening to music provided by David DJ’s.

The day and the night may have been long, but it will be one of my top favorite wedding of all time.

A Thank you to the Vendors:

Meet Mark and Mary

Just Last weekend, I had the pleasure and delight of having to photograph a beautiful couple, Mark and Mary.   This couple, and you can quote me, “Is A Match Made In Heaven”.    They are fun, witty, fun loving, and just plane enjoy life.   Mark has allot of character and I mean that in a good way.    And Mary, when she allows her guard down, is equally just as witty as Mark.   It has been years sense I had so much fun photographing a couple this madly in love, and I can truly feel their life spirit during their session.     And a little of that, no Allot of that life spirit had rubbed off on too Molly and my self, and we had all we could do from just breaking out in total laughter.   Okay We did.

They even did an advertising shot for the Xrite Color Checker Passport.

And one of the coolest thing about this great couple is that I get to photograph their Wedding this Weekend.   I already know the weather is not going to be good and rain predicted for most of the day, but with the amount of love they exude, the Sun will be shining on their special day all day.

One Year Ago Today.

It was a year ago on January 1 2011 when Teri and Steven got married at the Dutch’s Daughter Restaurant in Frederick MD.    The event was mostly family and a few special friends, but still quite memorable for all.

So to Teri and Steven, Happy Anniversary, and may you have more.

How do you Know if your Customers Love Your Work?

Steve and Teri, was my first wedding for the year and a pure joy to work with. They loved my work sooo much, they sent me a thank you card with a little extra.

Thank you Steve and Teri.
